NCMT plans to celebrate 50 years of partnership with Japanese machine tool builder Okuma through an open house at its Coventry Technical Centre on 18 and 19 November 2026. The company says the relationship started in 1976 and that it continues to exclusively supply Okuma technology to manufacturers across the UK and Ireland.

According to the event outline, visitors will be able to review that history, speak with NCMT engineers and discuss their own production requirements. Six machines are set to be displayed, selected to represent different stages in the development of Okuma engineering.

One of the featured platforms is the Okuma MULTUS B200II W, a multitasking machine that combines turning and milling to reduce separate set-ups. NCMT says the machine’s sub-spindle allows components to transfer between spindles for additional machining, helping limit repeated handling and re-fixturing.

The larger MULTUS U4000 2SW x 1500 is also scheduled to appear, with a stated maximum turning diameter of 650 mm and a turning length of 1,500 mm. NCMT describes the machine as being built on a rigid flat-bed structure and says the MULTUS U platform brings together substantial Y-axis travel and strong milling capability to consolidate demanding turning and milling work in one system.

For shops assessing vertical machining options, NCMT will show the GENOS M560V-e. The company presents the model as an example of Okuma’s emphasis on rigidity, thermal stability and accuracy, and lists a 1,300 x 560 mm table, 32 tools and a standard 12,000 rpm spindle as key discussion points when matching machine capacity to part requirements.

The line-up is rounded out by the GENOS L3000e MYW, which combines turning, driven tooling, Y-axis capability and a sub-spindle; an LU3000 EX displayed without covers to expose its mechanical construction; and a refurbished LR15-M that NCMT says has been cutting metal for around 40 years. Managing director Jonathan Smart said the milestone reflects shared standards, trusted relationships and a long-term commitment to engineering excellence, while also providing a foundation for the next phase of technology development.
