MTDCNC has announced that it will work with FANUC America during IMTS 2026, with plans to broadcast updates directly from the company’s stand during the Chicago show. IMTS runs from September 14 to 19 at McCormick Place, and FANUC America is scheduled to exhibit at Booth 338900 with a technology display aimed at productivity, flexibility and faster automation deployment.

Based on the published material, MTDCNC’s coverage will include show highlights, interviews with the people behind the technologies on display and discussion of how the latest developments could affect manufacturers. FANUC’s stand is expected to span multiple manufacturing areas, with live demonstrations in collaborative and industrial robotics, machine tending, welding, assembly, vision, painting and machining.

A major theme will be Physical AI, which FANUC describes as combining artificial intelligence with physical robotics so systems can perceive their surroundings, make decisions and adapt in real manufacturing environments. The company also says it is working with NVIDIA, Google Cloud and AWS as these capabilities advance. Demonstrations are expected to include robots interpreting instructions, identifying components and carrying out manufacturing tasks, alongside tools intended to make programming and deployment quicker and more accessible.

Machine-tool technology will also be part of FANUC’s IMTS presence. The company says the show will mark the debut of the next-generation FANUC ROBODRILL DC Series machining centres. The range includes the D54CS for heavy drilling, high-speed drilling and tapping; the D74CS with a new 12,000 rpm high-acceleration spindle for high-speed machining; and the D116CS, which extends the working envelope with 1,100 mm of X-axis stroke and 600 mm of Y-axis stroke. FANUC also plans to present its 500i-A CNC platform together with developments in automatic programming, tool management, servo technology and five-axis machining.

The robotics display is set to cover a broad mix of manufacturing tasks, including collaborative robot welding, dynamic line tracking and bolt tightening, multi-robot spot welding, automated painting, three-dimensional vision inspection and robotic wet machining. In the wet-machining cell, the FANUC M-810/190-20B is due to demonstrate rough milling, drilling, grinding and part handling, illustrating how robotics and CNC control are being applied across overlapping production functions.

Digital manufacturing is another stated focus. FANUC says its Smart Digital Twin technologies can virtualise machines, controls and machining processes before transfer to a physical machine, supporting shorter setup times, reduced waste and more efficient production planning. For manufacturers unable to attend IMTS in person, MTDCNC says it will broadcast content from the FANUC stand throughout the exhibition.
